4. Review & discuss Deep Spring board member roles (Tom - all)

They were read and discussed. Special emphasis to the relationship of the president and the guiding teacher was discussed

5. Operating with consensus – what does that really mean? (Tom - all)

Tom: listening to everyone and trusting that an agreement will be reached

Phil: lack of objection or contraindication, reaching compromise

Sherry: letting go of personal preference or opinion

Tom: not let the most aggressive opinion replace consensus

6. Review & discuss annual calendars (Sherry)

Sherry presented two schedules one for the treasurer and one for the Annual schedule

7. Review & discuss current state of the Sangha (all)

a) Issues/challenges

Sherry:  deficit, operating loss. Establish regular fundraising events. Develop a base with sustaining donors. Foster automatic donations

Tom: financial, support for OM. Tana needs a support system, a “go to” person on Board. Tana feels lost for how to deal with certain situations.

Phil: resolve what will happen with the building fund

Ken: DSC is not well understood in the market place. Marketing outreach

Tom: retreat attendance

Sandra: cohesiveness in the Sangha

Committees: pay attention to volunteers and donors. Establish a relationship.

Newsletter: could be a vehicle to motivate Sangha participation and to include events and activities other than classes or retreats. More involvement of the Board in the newsletter. Suggest a monthly electronic newsletter with timely information

Increase communication between Board and Guiding teacher and GTAG. Maybe invite GTAG to Board meetings twice a year or so.

Revisit/revise mission statement, maybe at Sangha meeting. Develop feedback loop.

b) Accomplishments/strengths: not reviewed due to lack of time

8. Prioritize issues & challenges (All) – if time permits
